To make it possible to achieve a liquid crystal panel having high efficiency and high luminance.SOLUTION: A liquid crystal illumination device comprises: a liquid crystal panel; a light source that irradiates the liquid crystal panel with light; a first diffusion unit that diffuses the light emitted from the light source; a first light guide unit that has a reflection surface formed to spread radially from the light source side toward the liquid crystal panel side, and reflects the light diffused by the first diffusion unit on the reflection surface to guide the light; a reflection mirror that is formed with an opening and in which part of the light guided by the first light guide unit is reflected and returned into the first light guide unit and the rest of the light passes through the opening; a condensation unit that condenses the light passing through the opening in the reflection mirror; and a second diffusion unit that diffuses the light condensed by the condensation unit to the liquid crystal panel. The opening in the reflection mirror is formed corresponding to a display area where the liquid crystal panel performs display. The haze value of the first diffusion unit is set higher than the haze value of the second diffusion unit.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1

    【課題】高効率で高輝度な液晶パネルを実現できること。【解決手段】液晶照明装置は、液晶パネルと、液晶パネルに対し光を照射する光源と、光源から照射された光を拡散する第1拡散部と、光源側から液晶パネル側に行くに従って放射状に広がるように形成された反射面を有し、第1拡散部により拡散された光を反射面で反射して導光する第1導光部と、開口部が形成され、第1導光部により導光された光の一部が反射して第1導光部内に戻り、その他の光が開口部を通過する反射ミラーと、反射ミラーの開口部を通過した光を集光する集光部と、集光部により集光された光を、液晶パネルへ拡散する第2拡散部と、を備える。反射ミラーの開口部は、液晶パネルが表示を行う表示領域に対応して形成されている。第1拡散部のヘイズ値は、第2拡散部のヘイズ値よりも高く設定されている。【選択図】図1
