To secure safety even in a case where an own vehicle has already deviated from a lane, by determining whether to start lane deviation prevention control depending on existence of at least one vehicle on an adjacent lane in a deviation direction.SOLUTION: A routine for determining whether to start lane deviation prevention control comprises: determining, when a traveling direction of an own vehicle is a lane deviation direction and the own vehicle is out of an own lane, whether or not any overtaking vehicle exists in an adjacent lane in the deviation direction, as well as whether a lateral position of the own vehicle is within a control start threshold value W2 (S16, S17); determining to start the lane deviation prevention control when the overtaking vehicle exists and the lateral position of the own vehicle is within a control start threshold value W2 (S20); or determining, when no overtaking vehicle exists in the adjacent lane in the deviation direction, whether or not any oncoming vehicle exists in the adjacent lane as well as whether the lateral position of the own vehicle is within a control start threshold value W3; and determining to start the lane deviation prevention control when the oncoming vehicle exists and the lateral position of the own vehicle is within the control start threshold value W3 (S20).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6

    【課題】自車両が既に車線を逸脱している場合であっても、逸脱方向の隣接車線の車両の有無によって車線逸脱防止制御を開始させるか否かを判断し、安全を確保する。【解決手段】自車両の進行方向が車線逸脱方向で自車両が車線外の場合、逸脱方向の隣接車線に追い抜き車両が存在するか否か、自車両の横位置が制御開始閾値W2内であるか否かを調べる(S16,S17)。そして、追い抜き車両が存在し、自車両の横位置が制御開始閾値W2内の場合、車線逸脱防止制御を開始すると判定する(S20)。一方、逸脱方向の隣接車線に追い抜き車両が存在しない場合には、隣接車線に対向車両が存在するか否か、自車両の横位置が制御開始閾値W3内であるか否かを調べる。そして、対向車両が存在し、自車両の横位置が制御開始閾値W3内の場合、車線逸脱防止制御を開始すると判定する(S20)。【選択図】図6
