To provide a technique which reduces restriction in calibration required for increasing accuracy in detection of a sight line direction and speed of processing of the detection.SOLUTION: A sight line direction detecting apparatus has a determining unit, a generating unit, and a resuming unit. The determining unit determines whether or not calibration regarding detection of a sight line is interrupted. If the determining unit determines that the calibration is interrupted, the generating unit generates data obtained in the middle of calibration. The resuming unit resumes the calibration based on the data obtained in the middle of calibration.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
