To secure sealability of a driving unit of an electric assist bicycle and concurrently achieve downsizing of the driving unit.SOLUTION: A driving unit 40 includes: a housing 51 forming an outer shape of the driving unit 40; and a driving motor 61 housed in the housing. The driving motor 61 has a motor shaft 64, a rotor 63, and a stator 62. The housing 51 includes a first case 53 and a second case 52 which is brought into contact with the first case 53 on mating surfaces 53A, 52A perpendicular to the motor shaft 64.
