To provide a slide bearing which can reduce the generation of noise caused by the backlash of a shaft member while suppressing torque generated by slide movement sliding with the shaft member.SOLUTION: A rack bush 1 is accommodated in a cylindrical housing 2 with its movement in an axis O-direction regulated, is attached to a back face (the face on the opposite side of a rack gear 40) 41 side of a rack bar 4, and supports a load applied to the rack bar 4 while permitting the movement of the rack bar 4 in the axis O-direction. The rack bush comprises: a cylindrical bush main body 10 having a clearance between the rack bar 4 and itself; a through slit 120 formed through both end faces of the bush main body 10 along an axial direction at the rack gear 40 side of the rack bar 4; and a pair of support faces 11 for supporting the rack bar 4 in contact with the rack bar 4 so as to sandwich the rack bar from a vertical direction (the width direction of the through slit 102) V.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
