To provide a position information acquisition device with which it is possible to save on electric power that is consumed in order to acquire position information.SOLUTION: Provided is a position information acquisition device 100 constituted so as to be able to access a storage device 300 in which map information that includes information pertaining to a node 7 and a link 5 is stored. The position information acquisition device 100 comprises: acquisition means 110 for acquiring position information that indicates which position of which link 5 a user terminal 10 exists at at a prescribed point of time, and information that indicates the advance direction of the user terminal 10 at the prescribed point of time; and determination means 120 for referring to the map information and determining, on the basis of the distance from a position on link 5 indicated by the position information to the node 7 the user terminal 10 passes through next after moving along the link 5 in the advance direction, the timing with which the acquisition means 110 acquires the next position information and information that indicates the advance direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
