PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an abnormality diagnosis device of an internal combustion engine which can perform an active test at a high frequency, and can normally finish the active test without waste.SOLUTION: When a vehicle is stopped due to a turn of a front signal to "red", signal information is acquired from a light beacon which is installed at an intersection of the signal (step ST7), and when a time at which the signal is switched to "green" after the stop of the vehicle is predicted to be secured for a time equal to or longer than a time necessary for a VVT active test (YES determination in step ST8), the VVT active test is started (step ST9). Thus, the VVT active test can be normally finished without waste. Furthermore, a frequency of the VVT test can be made higher, and it can be determined that an abnormality occurs in a VVT mechanism in an early stage.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5

    【課題】高い頻度でアクティブテストを実施可能とし、そのアクティブテストを無駄なく正常に完了させることができる内燃機関の異常診断装置を提供する。【解決手段】前方の信号機が「赤」となっていることで車両が停車した際、その交差点に設置された光ビーコンから信号機情報を取得し(ステップST7)、車両が停車してから信号機が「青」に切り替わるまでの時間が、VVTアクティブテストに要する時間以上確保されると見込まれる場合には(ステップST8でYES判定)、VVTアクティブテストを開始する(ステップST9)。これにより、VVTアクティブテストを無駄なく正常に完了させることができる。また、VVTアクティブテストの頻度を高く得ることができ、VVT機構に異常が発生していることの判定を早期に行うことが可能となる。【選択図】図5
