PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing a modified diene polymer, capable of providing the modified diene polymer which can be formed as a rubber composition excellent in low loss property when used with a reinforced filler.SOLUTION: The method of producing a modified diene polymer in a first embodiment is provided that comprises: a step of producing a diene polymer including 1,3-butadiene; and a step of modifying the diene polymer by mixing a tetrazine-based compound which is at least one kind selected from among 3,6-di(2-pyridyl-1,2,4,5-tetrazine and 3,6-di(4-pyridyl)-1,2,4,5-tetrazine of 0.01 to 2.5 pts.mass with 100 pts.mass of the produced diene polymer, and then heating them. The method of producing a modified diene polymer in a second embodiment is provided that is identical to the method in the first embodiment except that the diene polymer further includes an aromatic vinyl compound, preferably styrene.SELECTED DRAWING: None
