PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve efficient millimeter wave communication in a vehicle.SOLUTION: An on-vehicle millimeter wave communication device that performs communication while temporally changing a communication direction by using an antenna unit whose directivity can be changed, comprises: detection means that detects a direction of a communication partner existing at the periphery, which is viewed from the own vehicle; and communication control means that performs control to carry out communication by setting a communication time for the direction of the communication partner to be longer than that for other directions. It is preferred that the communication control means performs control to set the communication time for the direction of the communication partner to be longer in a case where a type of communication contents with the communication partner is related to control of the vehicle, or in a case where a communication amount with the communication partner is equal to or more than a threshold.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 9

    【課題】車両において効率的なミリ波通信を実現する。【解決手段】指向性を変更可能なアンテナユニットを用いて通信方向を時間的に変更しながら通信を行う車載ミリ波通信装置であって、周辺に存在する通信相手の自車両から見た方向を検出する検出手段と、前記通信相手の方向に対してその他の方向よりも通信時間を多く設定して通信を行うように制御する通信制御手段と、を備える。前記通信制御手段は、前記通信相手との通信内容の種別が車両の制御に関するものである場合や、前記通信相手との通信量が閾値以上である場合に、当該通信相手の方向に対して通信時間を多く設定する制御を行うことも好ましい。【選択図】図9
