To provide an appropriate drive assistance by estimating a relation between drive load and driving skill more correctly.SOLUTION: A vehicle drive assisting system S comprises a control section 11 that exerts drive assistance control on the basis of a balance between: a drive demand D (a required drive capability) required for a driver in order to drive a vehicle V in a traffic environment according to a traffic environment around the vehicle and a drive assistance provided for the driver by the vehicle V; and a drive performance P (current drive capability) of the driver. In a case where a time variation of a physical quantity relating to a drive operation of the driver exceeds a predetermined threshold, the control section 11 performs, as drive assistance control, at least a reduction process for reducing the drive demand D or an increase process for increasing the drive performance P.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 10
