【課題】車軸検出に不具合があっても一律に在線判定が出されるのでなく必要な保安度が確保される範囲で動作しうる車軸計数装置を実現する。【解決手段】線路の対象区間の各端部の区間端ユニット10夫々の複数の車軸検出子の検出結果A1,A2に基づいて端部毎に進出車軸数Boと進入車軸数Biと通過車軸数Baを求めて、通出差Δ2=[Ba+Ca−2×(Bo+Co)]又は[Ba+Ca−Bo−Co]を演算し、通出差Δ2が“0”等か否かで列車在線状態を判別する。また、入出差Δ1=[Bi+Ci−Bo−Co]も演算し、入出差Δ1が“0”等か否かでも列車在線状態を判別する。さらに、切替部44も設けて、常態では入出差Δ1に基づく判定を行い、車軸検出子11の故障その他の非常時には通出差Δ2に基づく判定を行うようにする。【選択図】 図1
