PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology that enables various works by manually holding an arbitrary portion of a raising/lowering mechanism in a balanced state, which has been conventionally difficult in an air type cargo handling machine provided with the balance mode that detects the weight of a cargo all the time with the load sensor and, on the basis of the result, sets a cylinder pressure.SOLUTION: A cargo handling machine comprises: a raising/lowering mechanism 5 having a load sensor 12; an air cylinder 20 that vertically drives the raising/lowering mechanism 5 by means of air pressure; a pressure proportional control part 22 that sets a cylinder pressure for the air cylinder 20; and a control part 7 that controls the pressure proportional control part 22. The control part 7 has a weight automatically sensing balance mode in which the weight of a cargo 10 held by a cargo holding part 11 is detected at all times and, on the basis of the result, a balance pressure for the air cylinder 20 is set at all times and a fixed balance mode in which a balance pressure for the air cylinder 20 is set to a predetermined fixed value.
