PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for warming a hybrid vehicle in a cold state that can shortly increase a catalyst bed temperature of an exhaust emission control catalyst to an active temperature at the time of a cold start of the engine.SOLUTION: This invention is related to a method for warming a hybrid vehicle in a cold state that uses an engine 1 and a motor generator 2 together, and that includes a selective reduction type catalyst 16 (an exhaust emission control catalyst) in the middle of an exhaust pipe 15 guiding exhaust gas 14 from the engine 1. An electrothermal heater 19 is provided on the inlet side of the selective reduction type catalyst 16, and the selective reduction type catalyst 16 is preheated by operating the electrothermal heater 19 while the vehicle is travelling with electric power at the time of starting-off. After the engine 1 is started, an engine load is increased by utilizing the motor generator 2 as a generator.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
