PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a propeller shaft that can form a structure which can reduce weight by making the structure thinner using materials with high strength, improve fuel economy based on the weight reduction and soften impact caused at a collision of a vehicle, with good processing accuracy.SOLUTION: A material m2 with high strength is used in a part 36 with a long shaft length of a propeller shaft 22, so as to make the shaft lighter and improve fuel economy. A material m1 with lower strength which can be processed more easily is used in a part 34 in a more complicated shape which deforms at a collision of a vehicle 10 to absorb energy generated by the collision, which can process more easily the complicated shape which deforms to effectively absorb energy generated by the collision at the collision of the vehicle 10.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2

    【課題】強度の強い材料を使用して薄肉化することによって重量を低減し、重量低減に基づく燃費の改善を図るとともに、車両の衝突時に生じる衝撃を緩和する構造を加工精度よく形成することができるプロペラシャフトを提供する。【解決手段】プロペラシャフト22の軸長の長い部分36に強度の強い材料m2を使用することで軽量化して燃費を改善する。また、車両10の衝突時に変形することで衝突によるエネルギーを吸収するより複雑な形状を持つ部分34に強度がより低く加工がより容易な材料m1を用いることによって、変形することで車両10の衝突時の衝突によるエネルギーを効果的に吸収する複雑な形状をより容易に加工することが可能となる。【選択図】図2
