PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel iridium complex capable of emitting phosphorescence with a short-wavelength (a wavelength shorter than that of green light).SOLUTION: There is provided a tris-type iridium complex in which a ligand having a nitrogen-containing five-membered heterocyclic skeleton with a specific structure is coordinated. The ligand has a nitrogen-containing five-membered heterocyclic skeleton comprising 2 to 4 nitrogen atoms and a carbon atom. In the skeleton, an aryl group is bonded to a carbon atom on both sides of which nitrogen atoms are positioned, and a tricycloalkyl group having a crosslinked structure and having 9 or 10 carbon atoms is bonded to one of the two nitrogen atoms positioned on both the sides of the carbon atom. In the ligand, the other one of the two nitrogen atoms sandwiching the carbon atom having the aryl group bonded thereto is coordinated to iridium, and one carbon atom of the aryl group is bonded to iridium, to form a complex. The iridium complex is a tris-type complex in which the three ligands are coordinated to iridium.SELECTED DRAWING: None

    【課題】短波長(緑色より短波長)なりん光を呈することが可能な新規イリジウム錯体を提供する。【解決手段】特定の構造の含窒素五員複素環骨格を有する配位子が配位した、トリス型のイリジウム錯体を提供する。該配位子は、2個乃至4個の窒素と炭素からなる含窒素五員複素環骨格を有し、当該骨格中において、両隣に窒素が位置する炭素にアリール基が結合しており、当該炭素の両隣に位置する2つの窒素のうち、一方の窒素に、架橋構造を有する炭素数9又は10のトリシクロアルキル基が結合している。また、この配位子は、前述のアリール基が結合した炭素を挟む2つの窒素のうち、他方の窒素がイリジウムに配位しており、当該アリール基の炭素の一つがイリジウムに結合して、錯体を形成する。本イリジウム錯体は、この配位子が3つ、イリジウムに配位したトリス型の錯体である。【選択図】なし
