PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To certainly realize speeding up of uplink speed in optical communication of an optical beacon.SOLUTION: The present invention relates to an optical beacon 4 which performs wireless communication via light signals with on-vehicle machines 2 of traveling vehicles 20. The optical beacon 4 is provided with: light reception parts 11 each of which allows photoelectric conversion at two kinds of high and low transmission rates; light transmission parts 10 each of which allows electric-optic conversion at a predetermined transmission rate; and a communication control part (beacon control machine 7) which includes beacon identification information that an own machine is a new optical beacon 4A corresponding to high-speed uplink reception in downlink frames DL1, DL2 for causing the light transmission part 10 to perform downlink transmission.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
