PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a vehicle skeleton member, capable of achieving both a weight reduction and high strength of the vehicle skeleton member.SOLUTION: A pillar outer panel 32 of a center pillar 16 includes a pair of opposing side wall portions 32B, 32C and a bottom wall portion 32A connecting opposing edge portions of the side wall portions 32B, 32C. A partial area excluding ridge lines 36A, 36B is formed thinner than a general portion 40 other than the partial area. A method for manufacturing the pillar outer panel 32 includes: a rolling step in which a part of a steel sheet is thinned by rolling to form a thin portion 38 in a partial area; and a cold-working step of forming the pair of side wall portions 32B, 32C and a bottom wall portion 32A, by bending a portion other than the thin portion 38 thinned in the rolling step at a temperature lower than a recrystallization temperature.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2

    【課題】車両骨格部材の軽量化と高強度化を両立することができる車両骨格部材の製造方法を得る。【解決手段】センタピラー16のピラーアウタパネル32は、対向する一対の側壁部32B、32Cと、該側壁部32B、32Cの対向縁部同士を繋ぐ底壁部32Aと、を備え、稜線36A、36Bを除く一部の領域を該一部の領域以外の一般部40よりも薄肉とする。このピラーアウタパネル32の製造方法は、鋼板の一部を圧延により薄板化して一部の領域に薄肉部を形成する圧延工程と、圧延工程によって薄肉化された薄肉部38以外の部位を再結晶温度未満の温度にて屈曲させることにより、一対の側壁部32B、32Cと底壁部32Aを形成する冷間加工工程と、を有する。【選択図】図2
