PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a traffic light recognition device capable of recognizing a kind of lighting signal with high accuracy in short time.SOLUTION: A system controller 20 of a navigation device 1 acquires images around a traffic light by a camera 14 loaded on a vehicle. In addition, the system controller 20 stores first luminance similar to the lowest luminance value for every pixel in a target range Rtag on the basis of a plurality of images Im acquired in a target period Ttag in a stop state of the vehicle. The system controller 20 further calculates difference between a luminance value based on at least one image Im of the plurality of images Im acquired in the target period Ttag or immediately after that and a first luminance value for every pixel. Then, the system controller 20 recognizes a kind of lighting signal on the basis of a shape to be constituted by pixels in which the above-mentioned luminance difference becomes a predetermined threshold or more.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7

    【課題】点灯している信号の種類を短時間で高精度に認識することが可能な信号機認識装置を提供する。【解決手段】ナビゲーション装置1のシステムコントローラ20は、車両に搭載されたカメラ14により信号機周辺の画像を取得する。また、システムコントローラ20は、車両が停車状態の対象期間Ttag中に取得された複数の画像Imを基に、対象範囲Rtag内の画素ごとの最低輝度値に類する第1輝度を記憶する。さらに、システムコントローラ20は、対象期間Ttag中又はその直後に取得された複数の画像Imのうち少なくとも1つの画像Imに基づく輝度値と、第1輝度値との差分を画素ごとに算出する。そして、システムコントローラ20は、上述の輝度差が所定の閾値以上となる画素が構成する形状を基に、点灯している信号の種類を認識する。【選択図】図7
