PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an onboard information terminal capable of controlling notification on the basis of an outcome obtained by highly precisely discriminating a positional relationship between a current position of a vehicle and a predetermined area on a map.SOLUTION: An onboard information terminal to be mounted in a vehicle includes a positioning unit that measures the current position of the vehicle, a notification unit that performs notification using at least one of an image, light, and sounds, a first storage unit that stores the position and shape of a predetermined area on a map by means of polygonal data, a second storage unit that stores the position of the predetermined area, which indwells in a circle, according to the center position of the circle and radius, and a control unit that controls notification, which is performed by the notification unit, on the basis of relationship between the current position and the pieces of information stored in the first and second storage units. When the current position does not indwell in the predetermined area represented by the information in the first storage unit, and the current position indwells in the circle represented by the information in the second storage unit, if the center position of the circle indwells in the predetermined area, the control unit inhibits notification by the notification unit.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
