PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevating mechanism of a heat treatment apparatus that can be installed, without restriction on the installation place, keeping the height of the apparatus to be low, and without having to prepare a pit or a building with a high ceiling.SOLUTION: An elevating mechanism 10 for a heat treatment apparatus comprises: a space-saving type lift unit 1 using a meshing chain; driving means 2 for vertically driving the lift unit 1; an elevating shaft section 3 which moves up and down the elevating unit 1; and a ramp 6 attached to the elevating shaft section 3. The elevating mechanism is for raising and lowering a work in a heat treatment apparatus 50. The heat treatment apparatus includes a heat treatment chamber 30 for performing a vacuum heat treatment on a workpiece W, and a preparatory and cooling chamber 20 disposed below the heat treatment chamber for allowing the workpiece W to stand by before the vacuum heat treatment.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
