PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recognition device capable of reducing an influence of variation in positions of an effective visual field range in a frame image.SOLUTION: The image recognition device of this invention includes: detection means for detecting straight lines from a first search area in a frame image picked up by imaging means mounted on a vehicle; calculation means for calculating endpoint coordinates of a straight line corresponding to a road surface among the straight lines detected by the detection means; setting means for setting reference coordinates corresponding to a boundary between an effective visual field range and an ineffective visual field range in the frame image on the basis of the endpoint coordinates calculated by the calculation means; and recognition means for performing image recognition of a second search area extracted from the effective visual field range with the reference coordinates set by the setting means as a reference.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
