PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an underwater acoustic communication system that expands a range in which underwater acoustic communication is possible between a ship or the like in the vicinity of a water surface and an underwater vehicle under water.SOLUTION: The underwater acoustic communication system, in which communication is performed by using an acoustic signal between floating acoustic communication means 30 disposed in the vicinity of a water surface A and a sailing body acoustic communication means 40 provided in an underwater vehicle 22 traveling in the water, includes acoustic communication relay means 50 disposed in a predetermined region X below the water surface A. At least when the underwater vehicle 22 travels beyond the predetermined region X, the floating acoustic communication means 30 and the sailing body acoustic communication means 40 perform acoustic communication via the acoustic communication relay means 50.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
