PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow for easily and reliably identifying winter tires.SOLUTION: Information on different directional components of light for one pixel is acquired from 4 pixels. Polarizing filters with different transmitting and blocking directions are provided. A polarization degree image is acquired using an image capturing device provided for each pixel, and reflection information included in the acquired polarization degree image is analyzed. A histogram is then generated and determination is made on whether a tire is a winter tire or not in accordance with dispersion of the histogram, thereby identifying a winter tire from the presence of sipes on a tread surface.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 11

    【課題】冬用タイヤの判別を簡単かつ確実にできるようにする。【解決手段】4画素から1画素の、光の異なる方向の成分の情報を取得し、かつ、透過および遮断方向が異なる偏光フィルタが、画素ごとに設けられる撮影装置を用いて偏光度画像を取得し、得られた偏光度画像中に含まれる反射情報を解析し、ヒストグラムを生成し、ヒストグラムの分散度に応じて冬用タイヤであるか否かを判別することにより、トレッド面のサイプの有無から、冬用タイヤを判別する。【選択図】図11
