PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ballast device which inhibits cavitation at the downstream side of a flow regulating valve, prevents the device from becoming unable to perform flow adjustment, and prevents equipment from being damaged.SOLUTION: A ballast device includes: a ballast tank 5 capable of storing ballast water; a pump 1 which injects and discharges water to the ballast tank 5; a flow regulating valve 7; and control means 6 which adjusts a flow rate of the ballast water sent by the pump 1 with the flow regulating valve 7. The ballast device further includes a back pressure adjustment valve 8, which adjusts a back pressure of the flow regulating valve 7, at the downstream side of the flow regulating valve 7.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
