PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an offset load detection device and an offset load detection method for detecting an offset load of an elevator car.SOLUTION: An offset load detection device of an elevator car according to the present invention includes: a plurality of ropes (10a-10d) for suspending a car (1); rope fixing parts (5a-5b) for fixing the ropes (10a-10d) so that they can mutually face the car (1); a detection part (6) for detecting longitudinal displacement of each of the ropes (10a-10d) with respect to the car (1); and a control part (12) for detecting an offset load of the car (1) on the detected displacement.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
