PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor integrated circuit for driving light-emitting element capable of suppressing the flow of heavy current to a light-emitting element, when the number of light-emitting elements to be lighted was reduced.SOLUTION: A semiconductor integrated circuit (100) for driving light-emitting element constitutes at least a part of a light-emitting element drive device for driving a first light source (Z1) and a second light source (Z2) when the first light source is not short-circuited, driving the second light source when the first light source is short-circuited, and having a capacitor (C1). The semiconductor integrated circuit for driving light-emitting element has control sections (10, 11) for controlling the value of resistance of a variable resistor (Q2) to be connected in series with the first and second light sources, according to the voltage across a resistor Rs to be connected in series with the first and second light sources.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
