PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electromagnetic brake in which an orifice of an oil damper can be easily formed with high accuracy.SOLUTION: The electromagnetic brake comprises: a field core 4; an armature; a brake spring (spring member) for energizing the armature; a brake disc (member to be braked) to which friction resistance is selectively imparted accompanying the movement of the armature; and an oil damper 17 connected to the field core and the armature. The oil damper 17 comprises a cylinder 31 arranged at the field core 4, and a piston 21 which is arranged at the armature and divides the inside of the cylinder 31 into a first oil chamber 65 and a second oil chamber 66. The piston 21 has a fourth through-hole 71 which makes the first oil chamber 65 and the second oil chamber 66 communicate with each other, and a pin 72 which is clearance-fit into the fourth through-hole 71.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
