PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To successfully inflate and deploy an air bag.SOLUTION: In an occupant crash protection device 10, a position determination section of an ECU determines whether or not a head portion H is disposed at an appropriate position on the basis of information from an on-vehicle camera. When the position determination section determines that the head portion H is disposed to be deviated from the appropriate position in a seat width direction, the ECU performs control to operate an inflator 62 of a side air bag device 60 before a multi-directional air bag device 28 is operated. Thus, a side air bag 64 moves an upper body of a seated person D to a center side in the seat width direction of a seat back 16, so that the head portion H is disposed at the appropriate position. Thus, this configuration can inhibit a multi-directional air bag 30 that is being inflated for deployment from interfering with the head portion H of the seated person D, so as to successfully inflate and deploy the multi-directional air bag 30.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1

    【課題】エアバッグを良好に膨張展開させる。【解決手段】乗員保護装置10では、ECUの位置判定部が、車載用カメラからの情報に基づいて、頭部Hが適正位置に配置されているか否かを判定する。そして、頭部Hが適正位置に対してシート幅方向にずれて配置されていると位置判定部が判定すると、ECUの制御によって、多方位エアバッグ装置28の作動前に、サイドエアバッグ装置60のインフレータ62が作動する。このため、着座者Dの上体がサイドエアバッグ64によってシートバック16のシート幅方向中央側へ移動されて、頭部Hが適正位置に配置される。したがって、膨張展開途中の多方位エアバッグ30が着座者Dの頭部Hに干渉することが抑制されるため、多方位エアバッグ30を良好に膨張展開させることができる。【選択図】図1
