PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a modified conjugated diene polymer using a modifier of an inexpensive purine derivative and a catalyst which is relatively easily handled and to provide a rubber composition comprising the modifier and catalyst which is excellent in wear resistance and low fuel consumption property.SOLUTION: There is provided a modified conjugated diene polymer which is obtained by a step of obtaining a conjugated diene polymer by polymerizing a conjugated diene compound using a catalyst obtained from (A) a rare earth metal compound, (B) an organometallic compound of an element selected from the groups 2, 12 and 13 of the periodic table, (C) an ionic compound comprising a non-coordinating anion and a cation and a step of modifying the conjugated diene polymer with (D) a purine derivative.SELECTED DRAWING: None

    【課題】本発明は、安価なプリン誘導体の変性剤と、取り扱いが比較的容易な触媒とを用いた変性共役ジエン重合体、それらを含むゴム組成物等を提供でき、耐摩耗性、低燃費性に優れる。【解決手段】 本発明は、(A)希土類金属化合物、(B)周期律表第2族、12族、13族から選ばれる元素の有機金属化合物、(C)非配位性アニオンとカチオンとからなるイオン性化合物、から得られる触媒を用いて共役ジエン化合物を重合させて共役ジエン重合体を得る工程と、前記共役ジエン重合体を(D)プリン誘導体により変性させる工程と、により得られたことを特徴とする変性共役ジエン重合体に関するものであります。【選択図】なし
