PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator in which energy consumption for elevating a car can be suppressed, and further, an unbalanced load on a hoist can be reduced, and a renewal method for the elevator.SOLUTION: An elevator comprises: a hoist 3 with a double brake which is located on a pit 2 of a hoistway 1; a pulley 4 which is located on an upper part of the hoistway 1; a main rope 5 which is wound on the hoist 3 with a double brake and the pulley 4 and forms a circulation loop; a car 6 which is fitted to one rope part 5a of a pair of rope parts 5a, 5b of the main rope 5 which are opposite to each other; and a counter-weight 7 which is fitted to the other rope part 5b of the pair of rope parts 5a, 5b of the main rope 5 which are opposite to each other.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1

    【課題】乗りかごを昇降させるエネルギー消費を抑え、また巻上機に掛かる偏荷重を小さくすることができるエレベーター及びそのエレベーターのリニューアル方法の提供。【解決手段】本発明に係るエレベーターは、昇降路1のピット2に配置したダブルブレーキ付き巻上機3と、昇降路1の上部に配置した滑車4と、ダブルブレーキ付き巻上機3と滑車4とに掛け回され、循環ループを形成する主ロープ5と、主ロープ5の対向する一対のロープ部分5a,5bのうちの一方のロープ部分5aに取り付けた乗りかご6とを備えるとともに、主ロープ5の対向する一対のロープ部分5a,5bのうちの他方のロープ部分5bに取り付けたカウンターウエイト7を備えている。【選択図】図1
