PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a travel assisting method for performing energy saving/low exhaust gas travel by effectively and efficiently utilizing a kinetic energy which a vehicle in travel has for an optimum slowdown travel suitable for a vehicle condition of the vehicle, road condition, peripheral traffic condition.SOLUTION: A plurality of slowdown travel modes as far as a target stop point of a traveling vehicle are set, and for each of the set travel mode, a slowdown travel executable condition for vehicle characteristic/vehicle condition, road condition, and peripheral traffic condition, or the like are specified. Based on the specified slowdown travel executable condition, a slowdown travel mode is selected and extracted, for slowdown travel, from among the set slowdown travel modes, for performing the slowdown travel from a current point/current time point to a target stop point by effectively, and efficiently utilizing, to the most, a kinetic energy which the vehicle has.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1

    【課題】走行中の車両の有する運動エネルギーを、当該車両の車両状態、道路状態、あるいは周辺交通状況、に適合した最適な減速走行に効果的・効率的に利用しての省エネルギー・低排出ガス走行を行うための走行支援方法の提案。【解決手段】走行中の車両における目標停止点までの減速走行形態を複数設定するとともに、前記設定した走行形態毎に車両特性・車両状態、道路状況、および周辺交通状況等、に関する減速走行実行可能条件を規定し、前記設定した減速走行形態中から、前記規定した減速走行実行可能条件に基づいて、現地点・現時点から目標停止点まで間車両の有する運動エネルギーを最大限効果的・効率的に活用しての減速走行を行うための減速走行形態を選択・抽出して減速走行を行う。【選択図】 図1
