PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an escalator whose edge handrail panel can be detached efficiently therefrom.SOLUTION: An adjacent handrail panel 13 is formed in a shape in which when an edge handrail panel, or the adjacent handrail panel adjacent to a new L panel 11, is detached from fixed instruments 26B and 26c and a mounting member 30 which is a first member to be fixed, the new L panel 11 can be slid into a region where the detached handrail panel 13 has existed, by a distance enough for at least a circular-arc shape edge part 11E of the panel to get out of a groove part of a mounting member 154 which is a second member to be fixed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 12
