PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power reception device and a power transmission device, having coils each including an arc part and a side part, capable of obtaining a high coupling coefficient with the reduction of a necessary ferrite amount.SOLUTION: The power reception device includes ferrite 72 and a power reception coil 8 having a hollow part formed thereon. The power reception coil 8 is formed in a manner to enclose the periphery of a winding axis which extends in a thickness direction. When the power reception coil 8 and the ferrite 72 are viewed from an observation position which is apart from the power reception coil 8 in the extension direction of the winding axis, on the outer circumferential edge part of the ferrite 72, notches 92 are formed in parts which are overlapped with the side parts. The width of each notch 92 in the circumferential direction of the power reception coil 8 becomes larger as going in the direction of separating from the hollow part of the power reception coil 8.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 16
