PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flywheel regeneration system which secures high flexibility in switching of a power transmission state and is good in terms of costs, and to provide a control method of the flywheel regeneration system.SOLUTION: A flywheel regeneration system 100 is applied to a vehicle 200 including a transmission TM and includes: a planetary gear mechanism PG including a sun gear S, a ring gear R, and a carrier C which rotate relative to each other; a flywheel FW connected to the sun gear S; a motor generator MG connected to the ring gear R; and a switch mechanism SG which switches a connection state of the planetary gear mechanism PG and has a first switch state, a second switch state, and a third switch state.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
