PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power supply system and an electric power supply method by which electric power supply can be performed so as not to prevent travel of an unmanned carrier on a passage between racks.SOLUTION: An electric power supply system 1 for supplying electric power to an unmanned carrier 10 which performs an inter-rack travel and a normal travel comprises: an electric power supply vehicle 20 for supplying electric power to the unmanned carrier 10 while travelling following the unmanned carrier 10 during normal travel; an electric power supply device 30 which is provided on a ceiling C in a building and supplies electric power to the unmanned carrier 10 during inter-rack travel; and detection means which detects approach of the unmanned carrier 10 to an inter-rack passage A and retraction of the unmanned carrier 10 from the inter-track passage A. When approach of the unmanned carrier 10 is detected by the detection means, the electric power supply vehicle 20 is so made as to be in a standby state without approaching the inter-rack passage A, and the electric power supply device 30 starts electric power supply to the unmanned carrier 10. When retraction of the unmanned carrier 10 is detected by the detection means, the electric power supply vehicle 20 releases the standby state and re-starts to travel following the unmanned carrier 10.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1

    【課題】ラック間通路での無人搬送車の走行を妨げないように給電することができる給電システムおよび給電方法を提供する。【解決手段】ラック間走行と通常走行とを行う無人搬送車10に対して給電する給電システム1は、通常走行中の無人搬送車10に追従して走行しながら無人搬送車10に対して給電する給電車20と、建物内の天井Cに設けられ、ラック間走行中の無人搬送車10に対して給電する給電装置30と、ラック間通路Aへの無人搬送車10の進入およびラック間通路Aからの無人搬送車10の退出を検出する検出手段とを備える。検出手段により無人搬送車10の進入が検出されると、給電車20が、ラック間通路Aに進入することなく待機状態となり、給電装置30が、無人搬送車10への給電を開始する。検出手段により無人搬送車10の退出が検出されると、給電車20が、待機状態を解除して、無人搬送車10に追従して走行することを再開する。【選択図】図1
