PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exterior decorative member for a vehicle, which can sufficiently give gradation effects to an observer and in which design property is improved, and also to provide a method of manufacturing the exterior decorative member for the vehicle.SOLUTION: The exterior decorative member for the vehicle comprises a base member formed of a colored translucent body having a front surface and a rear surface of an uneven surface, and a light non-transmissive layer formed on a rear surface side of the base member. The base member includes a general portion with a fixed thickness of 2.5 mm or more and 4.0 mm or less, and a gradually changing portion with a gradually changing thickness. The gradually changing portion includes a maximum deviation portion where a difference in thickness between the general portion and the gradually changing portion is maximum, and satisfies the following (A) and/or (B). (A) The difference between visible light transmissivity at the maximum deviation portion and visible light transmissivity at the general portion is 5% or more. (B) When an L value of a Lab color system defined in JIS Z 8729 is assumed, a difference between an L value at the maximum deviation portion and an L value at the general portion is 2 or more.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
