PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type display device using laser beams that, when an image having a polarization direction changed in a frame unit to reduce speckle noise is visually recognized through polarized sunglasses, prevents generation of flicker of light with all wavelengths within a range of visible light.SOLUTION: A projection type display device 10 comprises: a light source part 100 that generates a plurality of laser beams with different wavelengths in a predetermined polarization direction; a composition optical part 200 that composes the plurality of laser beams; an image forming part 300 that forms a projection image from the plurality of laser beams; a liquid crystal element 400 that creates a single polarization state in a transmission area through which the plurality of laser beams emitted from the composition optical part 200 transmit, and changes the polarization direction of the plurality of laser beams in the transmission area; and a high retardation film 500 that provides a phase difference to the plurality of laser beams emitted from the liquid crystal element 400.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1

    【課題】スペックルノイズを低減するためにフレーム単位で偏光方向を変化させた画像を偏光サングラスを通して視認したときに、可視光の範囲にある全ての波長の光に対してフリッカが発生しないレーザ光を用いた投射型表示装置を提供する。【解決手段】投射型表示装置10は、波長の異なる複数のレーザ光を所定の偏光方向で発生させる光源部100と、複数のレーザ光を合成する合成光学部200と、複数のレーザ光から投射画像を形成する画像形成部300と、合成光学部200から出射した複数のレーザ光が透過する透過領域において単一の偏光状態を生成すると共に、該透過領域において複数のレーザ光の偏光方向を変化させる液晶素子400と、液晶素子400から出射した複数のレーザ光に位相差を与える高リタデーションフィルム500と、を備える。【選択図】図1
