PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle occupant discrimination system which can discriminate a child seat in a vehicle seat highly accurately.SOLUTION: A vehicle seat occupant discrimination system includes a load detection device disposed on the underside of a vehicle seat for detecting a load on the vehicle seat, an occupant discrimination unit for discriminating which state of "no occupant," "adult seated," and "child seat fixed" an occupant to be seated on the vehicle seat is in with the load detected by the load detection device and the duration time of the load as a state transition condition, and a door opening/closing detection unit for detecting an opened/closed state of a vehicle door. The occupant discrimination unit changes the condition of state transition from "no occupant" or "child seat fixed" to "adult seated" in a state that an opened state of the door is detected so that the transition is more difficult than in a state that a closed state of the door is detected.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
