PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shift lever unit of which a small-sized design can be relatively easily achieved.SOLUTION: A shift lever unit 1 for a vehicle having an operation restriction mechanism for restricting specified shifting operation, and a click giving mechanism for giving click feeling to shifting operation. The click giving mechanism is so configured as to generate click feeling in shifting operation in such a manner that a detent rod 61 energized in a specified energization direction is advanced and retracted according to shifting operation. The operation restriction mechanism is so configured as to restrict shifting operation by restricting displacement of the detent rod 61 in a reverse energization direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
