PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a more robust CMC sandwich structure with improved resilience under thermal gradient conditions.SOLUTION: A hybrid sandwich ceramic matrix composite (CMC) 10 may comprise a first facesheet 14, a second facesheet 16, and a core 12 between the first facesheet 14 and the second facesheet 16 and bonded to both of the facesheets. The first facesheet 14 and the second facesheet 16 may each include filaments in a ceramic matrix. The hybrid sandwich CMC 10 is configured for exposure to a thermal gradient in which the first facesheet 14 is exposed to a higher temperature environment than the second facesheet 16. The first facesheet 14 and the second facesheet 16 may have substantially matching coefficients of thermal expansion, and the first facesheet 14 may have a higher compressive strength than the second facesheet 16.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
