PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an escalator drive unit in which tension of a drive chain can be constantly monitored.SOLUTION: An escalator drive unit 11 to manage driving chain tension comprises: a shaft 50 for a ratchet pole which is rotatably supported by support parts 54, 56 installed on a ceiling part of a truss 22; a shoe lever 60 in which its root part is fixed to one end of the shaft 50 for the ratchet pole and a shoe 62 laid on an outer peripheral surface of a drive chain 36 is given at the tip part; a structure that a claw part 49 of a ratchet pole 48 is engaged with a tooth part 46 of a ratchet wheel 44 to prohibit rotation of a drive spindle 38 when the shaft 50 for the ratchet pole is rotated equal to or larger than a prescribed angle; and a drive chain tension management unit 64 which manages tension state of the drive chain 36 on the basis of oscillation state of the shoe lever 60 when the shoe lever 60 is oscillated less than a prescribed angle.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2

    【課題】エスカレータ駆動装置において、駆動チェーンの張力を常に監視できるようにすることである。【解決手段】駆動チェーン張力管理を行うエスカレータ駆動装置11は、トラス22の天井部に設けられる支持部54,56によって回転自在に支持されるラチェットポール用軸50と、ラチェットポール用軸50の一端部に根元部が固定され先端部に駆動チェーン36の外周面の上に置かれるシュー62を有するシューレバー60と、ラチェットポール用軸50が予め定めた所定角度以上に回転したときにラチェットポール48の爪部49とラチェットホイール44の歯部46とが噛み合って駆動主軸38の回転禁止を行う構成を有し、シューレバー60が所定の角度未満の角度で搖動させるときに、シューレバー60の搖動状態に基づいて駆動チェーン36の張力状態を管理する駆動チェーン張力管理部64を備える。【選択図】図2
