PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an energy absorption structure having a guide mechanism using a rod which can guarantee the collapse of an energy absorption member in the axial direction, while suppressing the deformation of the rod during the input of an impulsive load.SOLUTION: The energy absorption structure includes a cylindrical energy absorption member of a fiber reinforced resin to be collapsed in the axial direction during the input of a collision load to absorb collision energy, a thrusting member for abutting on the end on the front end side of the energy absorption member to transmit the collision load to the energy absorption member, a holding member for abutting on the end on the rear end side of the energy absorption member, at least one rod provided extending from the thrusting member to the side of the holding member in the axial direction of the energy absorption member, and a guide hole which is provided in the holding member, through which the rod is inserted, and of which a rod contacting portion has an axial length smaller than the thickness of the holding member.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
