PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for stopping a train within a predetermined position range while optimizing a performance target necessitating estimation of a train dynamic state parameter.SOLUTION: The state of a train is measured to be fetched, and a parameter estimation device updates the estimation value 201 of an unknown parameter and the reliability 212 of the unknown parameter based on the comparison of the predicted sate of the train with the measured state x206 of the train. A stimulus input sequence reference generator fetches the operation of the train, and obtains a series of stimulus 202 inputs based on the current estimation value of a system parameter, the measured state of the train, and a set of constraints on the operation of the train. A model prediction control (MPC) device receives a control orientation cost function, the set of constraints, the series of stimulus inputs, the estimation value of the unknown parameter, and the reliability of the estimation value of the unknown parameter, and generates a command input u211 for the traction brake actuator 220 of the train.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
