PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rack shaft pressing mechanism capable of gradually reducing return speed of a pressing member.SOLUTION: A rack shaft pressing mechanism 10 of the invention comprises: a housing 11; a compression coil spring 12; a pressing member 13 for pressing a rack shaft 6 to a pinion shaft 4c; and a first elastic body 16 and a second elastic body 17 externally fitted to the pressing member 13. The second elastic body 17 is disposed on a bottom face side of a storage chamber relative to the first elastic body 16, and in an inner peripheral face of the housing 11, a first inner peripheral face 11a for compressing the first elastic body 16 with an outer peripheral face 13e of the pressing member 13 and formed into same diameter in an axial direction, and a second inner peripheral face 11b for compressing the second elastic body 17 with the outer peripheral face 13e of the pressing member 13, and formed into a taper-state whose diameter is expanded gradually toward the bottom face S1 side of the storage chamber S, are formed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
