PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rack pinion mechanism in which a pressing force for pressing a rack shaft to a pinion shaft becomes large only when a large separation force acts thereon without deteriorating a steering feeling at a normal time.SOLUTION: A rack pinion mechanism comprises: a pinion shaft 10 in which pinion teeth 11 are formed; a rack shaft 20 in which rack teeth 21 engaged with the pinion teeth 11 are formed; a rack guide main body 31 which presses the rack guide 20 arranged at a side opposite to the rack teeth 21 toward the pinion shaft 10; a first compression coil spring 51 which energizes the rack guide main body 31 toward a side approximating the pinion shaft 10 by an elastic restoration force; and a second compression coil spring 52 which energizes the rack guide main body 31 toward a side separating from the pinion shaft 10 by an elastic restoration force. In an initial state, a first energization force by which the first compression coil spring 51 energizes the rack guide main body 31 is larger than a second energization force by which the second compression coil spring 52 energizes the rack main body 31.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3

    【課題】通常時の操舵フィーリングを低下させず、大きな離反力が作用した場合のみ、ラック軸をピニオン軸に押し付ける押し付け力が大きくなるラックピニオン機構を提供する。【解決手段】ピニオン歯11が形成されたピニオン軸10と、ピニオン歯11に噛合するラック歯21が形成されたラック軸20と、ラック歯21の反対側に配置されラック軸20をピニオン軸10に向けて押し付けるラックガイド本体31と、弾性復元力によってラックガイド本体31をピニオン軸10に近づく側に向けて付勢する第1圧縮コイルばね51と、弾性復元力によってラックガイド本体31をピニオン軸10から遠ざかる側に向けて付勢する第2圧縮コイルばね52と、を備え、初期状態において、第1圧縮コイルばね51がラックガイド本体31を付勢する第1付勢力は、第2圧縮コイルばね52がラックガイド本体31を付勢する第2付勢力よりも大きい。【選択図】図3
