PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for damping force variable damper and the like in which a solenoid valve is used to vary a cross sectional area of a channel, and which hardly have a continued large current flowing through the solenoid valve and which hardly cause a coil to be short-circuited.SOLUTION: A control device for damping force variable damper comprises: a target current determination part 161 for determining a target current ITA to be supplied to a solenoid valve which controls a damping force of the damping force variable damper; an upper limit setting part 163 for setting an upper limit value of the current to be supplied to the solenoid valve; a supply current determination part 166 for determining a supply current supplied to the solenoid valve based on the target current ITA and the upper limit value. The upper limit setting part 163 comprises: a first upper limit setting part 163b for determining a first upper limit value based on an actual current IM that has been supplied to the solenoid valve; and a second upper limit determination part 163c for determining a second upper limit value based on a third upper limit value at the last power-off time and an elapsed time since the last power-off time; and a selection part 163a for selecting an upper limit value from the first and the second upper limit values.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
