PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a knee restraint device which can adjust a distance between an occupant and a compartment by fixing the compartment in an arbitrary position with respect to an instrument panel, and can absorb a collision impact when a knee of the occupant collides with the compartment at a collision of a vehicle.SOLUTION: A knee restraint device comprises a glove box 10 arranged at an instrument panel 100, and a position adjustment mechanism 20 which fixes the glove box in an arbitrary position in a carry-in/out direction. The position adjustment mechanism 20 has positioning rails 31u, 31d in which a plurality of teeth 32 are formed, and latches 41u, 41d in which claws 42 engaged with the teeth 32 of the positioning rails 31u, 31d are formed. When a collision load which is generated at a collision of a knee K of an occupant with the glove box 10 exceeds a constant value, the glove box 10 is moved to a push-in direction while receiving resistance caused by the fracture of the teeth 32 by the claws 42, and the collision load is absorbed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4

    【課題】インストルメントパネルに対して物入れを任意の位置で固定して乗員の膝と物入れとの距離を調整可能であると共に、車両の衝突時に乗員の膝が物入れに衝突した際の衝突荷重を吸収することが可能な膝拘束装置を提供する。【解決手段】膝拘束装置は、インストルメントパネル100に設けられたグローブボックス10と、グローブボックス10を出し入れ方向の任意の位置で固定する位置調整機構20とを備える。位置調整機構20は、複数の歯32が形成された位置決めレール31u,31dと、位置決めレール31u,31dの歯32に噛み合う爪42が形成されたラッチ41u,41dとを有する。乗員の膝Kがグローブボックス10に衝突した際の衝突荷重が一定値を超えたとき、爪42が歯32を破壊することによって抵抗を受けながらグローブボックス10が押し入れ方向に移動することにより、衝突荷重を吸収する。【選択図】図4
