PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique related to a power converter for an electric automobile, the technique for protecting a transformer from a collision shock at a collision, the transformer included in a power circuit used for driving a discharge circuit for a smoothing capacitor.SOLUTION: A power converter includes: a capacitor (a capacitor element 62) for smoothing a current of a DC power supply; a discharge circuit (a sub-circuit board 65); a transformer 34; and a capacitor case 61. The discharge circuit discharges the capacitor when a collision is detected. The transformer converts power stored in the capacitor into power for driving; The capacitor case 61, made of plastic, houses the capacitor. The transformer 34 is surrounded by walls 61c disposed vertically on a lower surface of the case 61 that houses the capacitor.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
