PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle detection system and a vehicle detection method capable of improving detection performance.SOLUTION: The vehicle detection system comprises: a camera 11 for acquiring an image of a vehicle; a detector 12 for detecting a shape of the vehicle from a direction different from a camera photographing direction; a three-dimensional model generation section 131 for generating a three-dimensional model of the vehicle from the image and the shape; and a determination section 132 for determining the vehicle on the basis of the three-dimensional model.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
