PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the generation of cracks by avoiding a stress concentration at an end of a fiber-reinforced resin-made bumper beam having a U-shaped cross section.SOLUTION: A bumper beam 12 has a two-layered structure which has a bottom wall 12a, an upper wall 12b and a lower wall 12c, is formed into a U-shape at a cross section which is opened to the inside of a fore-and-aft direction, and has a two-layered structure which is formed by laminating an outside continuous fiber-reinforced resin layer 19 whose continuous fibers are reinforced by a thermoplastic resin, and an inside non-continuous fiber-reinforced resin layer 20 whose non-continuous fibers are reinforced by the thermoplastic resin. Since the non-continuous fiber-reinforced resin layer 20 comprises a reinforcing part 12d which surrounds an end of the continuous fiber-reinforced resin layer 19, the generation of cracks caused by a stress concentration at the end of the continuous fiber-reinforced resin layer 19 can be prevented by the reinforcing part 12d of the non-continuous fiber-reinforced resin layer 20, and bending rigidity can be enhanced while reducing weight with the bumper beam 12 formed of the fiber-reinforced resin layer.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
【課題】 コ字状断面を有する繊維強化樹脂製のバンパービームの端部における応力集中を回避してクラックの発生を防止する。【解決手段】 バンパービーム12は、底壁12a、上壁12bおよび下壁12cを有して前後方向内側に開放する断面コ字状に形成され、連続繊維を熱可塑性樹脂で補強した外側の連続繊維強化樹脂層19と、不連続繊維を熱可塑性樹脂で補強した内側の不連続繊維強化樹脂層20とを積層した2層構造であり、不連続繊維強化樹脂層20は連続繊維強化樹脂層19の端部を囲む補強部12dを備えるので、連続繊維強化樹脂層19の端部に応力集中による亀裂が発生するのを不連続繊維強化樹脂層20の補強部12dにより抑制することができ、バンパービーム12を繊維強化樹脂製として軽量化しながら曲げ強度を高めることができる。【選択図】 図5
